Transition to Research Portal
The CCMO is preparing for the replacement of ToetsingOnline. On 3 February 2025 the Portal for Medical Research in the Netherlands, for short Research Portal, will go live. This page sums up all available information about the transition to the new system. This information will be updated following every new development. A video impression of the Research Portal is now available.

This screen recording shows the new Research Portal of the CCMO Research with human participants. In this portal, all medical scientific studies covered by the WMO, Embryo Act, MDR, IVDR and the DCRF's non-WMO review framework can be submitted. Previously, this could be done with ToetsingOnline. A voice-over explains the portal and the steps you need to take to submit a research, while the screen recording shows the process.
VOICE-OVER: "Welcome to the preview of the Research Portal. In the Research Portal, you may submit all medical research covered by the WMO, Embryo Act, MDR, IVDR and the DCRF's non-WMO review framework. You may also register other non-WMO research through this portal. Thus, the scope of the new portal will be broader than that of the current Toetsingonline."
A screen recording shows a page titled 'My research'.
VOICE-OVER: "In front of you, you will see the dashboard of the new Research Portal. At the top right you can choose 'Dutch' or 'English'. Through the menu you can go to your profile, where you can enter your details and where you can log out. At the center of the dashboard is an overview of your studies. You may select them by reference number, by assessment 'not yet approved' or 'approved' and by the status of the study: 'not yet assessed' or 'ongoing'. If you want to create a new study in the portal, click the 'Add research' button. You then need to indicate which category your study falls into. For example 'WMO/Embryo Act'. Next, enter the title of your study in both Dutch and English. Next, you will be directed to a page where you have to answer questions."
Another page appears, entitled ‘Submissions’. On the left, 15 chapters are listed below each other. The top chapter, entitled ‘Introduction’, is selected.
VOICE-OVER: "These questions are similar to those on the ABR form in ToetsingOnline. There are 15 sections of questions in the Research Portal. The questions marked with an asterisk are compulsory to answer. In section 12 you can also add documents from the research file for submission. This is a new feature. Once the portal has guided you through the submission process, it indicates which review committee your study may be forwarded to for review. If you click on 'CCMO Research with human participants' at the top left, you'll return to the dashboard. If you have not yet submitted the submission, your details will remain in the system so you do not have to fill in the details again."
